Welcome to the Real World

Image

It’s official. I’m now a working man. After months of figuring out what I want to do and where I want to live, I’ve decided to move to New York City (thanks for voting in the survey) and join the family business – Stark Carpet.

I joined Stark because of how much opportunity there is here for growth. Big things are in the works. It’ll take some time to get integrated into the workflow of things around here, but this company is truly entrepreneurial. I’m more excited than ever to make my mark on the world. Stick around for updates as I begin executing on my plan – global domination!

So i read this a while ago and meant to ask a question but just got to it now, so apologies for posting on something this late. I don’t mean this in a disrespectful way, but you already had a foot in the door considering it’s your family’s business and you the fact you come from a pretty affluent background. Others, like myself, haven’t been been afforded such luxuries, and though the motivation exists to do great things and be a part of similar high end businesses, the resources just aren’t the same. It’s more than disappointing facing what seems to be a catch-22, you need money to be part of such social circles/to enter these entrepreneurial endeavors, but in order to make that sort of money you already have to be part of that world. So my question to you is this: you’ve had a chance to work in the industry and see how it operates, what advice would you give to someone like me who’s a motivated hard worker to crack into an industry like this without any sort of resources.
